One of our favorite restaurants in all of Rocky Point….The Sonoran Grill…fabulous food, great service. There’s not much else to be desired from serious foodies. Ok, we’re far from serious, but we do like to eat great food.
The Sonoran Grill is a hidden gem in Sandy Beach. It’s nestled between the Sonoran Spa and Sea Resorts. So famous, there’s not even a sign with their name on the building! So it feels like you’re in the know about a secret eatery – like going in the back door at Durant’s in Phoenix. You never know, you might even spot the soon to be famous writer/blogger PPJ there sometime.
We have been going there for years and are never disappointed. We take the kids, we go on date nights, and we go with the whole family. The bar/restaurant is small inside with a nice covered patio seating area outside. The ambiance inside is cozy and casual. The menu is varied. There is really something for every palate. They also have nightly specials, which are excellent. Last Monday I had the surf and turf kabob special – wow – it was so good … tender savory pieces of steak with grilled shrimp, a ton of fresh veggies and a little rice to round it out. I’m definitely making this a Monday night staple. Oh, and I almost forgot, you get a Caesar salad included in the special too.

Tonight, Kyle and I decided to go and try the Saturday night special. We were not disappointed. Since it was a date night, we sat at the bar, since we can’t do that with the kids and well, we like the bar! Saturday’s special is Flounder, Salmon, or Chicken Piccata. We both went with the flounder since it was the fresh fish of the day. Delicious! The lemon butter caper sauce was just the right amount of tangy richness to offset the grilled fish. It was served with just the right portion of linguine so you were full but not stuffed.
Which, of course, left room for dessert…
Other awesome things…they do take Visa and they have fast Wi-Fi! And inside is air-conditioned! Yay, since it was 91 with a heat index of 108 here today!
